The China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) is delighted to invite our members to join a briefing with Jo Hawley, Her Majesty’s Consul General of British Consulate-General Guangzhou in Guangzhou on Friday 30th October 2020 at the British Centre.
The briefing is designed to update CBBC members on important policy changes, economic trends, and high-level visits that affect British businesses in China, especially considering Covid-19, which has fundamentally disrupted and impacted the global economy. This event will provide a platform for CBBC members to ask questions to Her Majesty’s Consul General of British Consulate-General Guangzhou, exchange views on trending topics, and network with each other.

Jo Hawley
Consul General, British Consulate-General Guangzhou
Ms Hawley was appointed to the British Consul-General Guangzhou in July 2019. She leads the British Government’s engagement in South China, which includes Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hunan and Jiangxi.
Ms Hawley has worked for the British government for nearly 20 years. From 2014 to 2017, she was the Director of International Trade and Investment at the British Consulate General in Hong Kong. She previously served as Private Secretary to a Minister of State and completed two postings at the UK Representation to the European Union. In addition to working for the Foreign Office and Department for International Trade, she has worked at the Cabinet Office and Department for Education in roles focused on improving and modernising public services.

Sally is based in Shenzhen and has been with CBBC for twelve years. Besides providing strategic consultancy to British companies on BD in China, she is also in charge of building and maintaining long-term relationships with the UK and local stakeholders including government bodies, key industry associations and renowned Chinese companies in South China.
She is also responsible for the UK VIP government and enterprise delegations to South China, as well as delegations from South China to the UK. Ms Zhang supervises the CBBC offices in South China (Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Changsha).
