The Shanghai American Center is taking part in the country-wide Diversity & Inclusion Film Festival.  Come join us for a screening and panel discussion of 1989’s Do The Right Thing, by iconic American director Spike Lee.  Salvatore "Sal" Fragione (Danny Aiello) is the Italian owner of a pizzeria in a black Brooklyn neighborhood. A local radical activist, Buggin' Out (Giancarlo Esposito), becomes upset when he sees that the pizzeria's Wall of Fame exhibits only Italian actors. Buggin' Out believes a pizzeria in a black neighborhood should showcase black actors, but Sal disagrees. The wall becomes a symbol of racism and hate to Buggin' Out and to other people in the neighborhood, and tensions rise, ultimately culminating in violence.  Come take part in an honest discussion about race in America and explore how groundbreaking directors like Spike Lee paved the way for today’s continuing conversation on equality.

The second edition of the Diversity & Inclusion Film Festival will take place in cities across China from 30 November to 20 December 2021.  For this edition, 18 countries will screen older films that address important diversity & inclusion issues that still resonate around the world today.  Please join us for exclusive screenings of classic and newer classic films from almost a century ago through the 21st century, organized by the following Diplomatic Missions in China:  Australia, Belgium, Canada, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.  There will be 22 film screenings, as well as various opportunities to engage in dialogue on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all forms.  Please scan the QR code to stay updated and/or for exclusive information on the film festival!  We look forward to seeing you!

由于疫情期间，所有到场观众都必须佩戴口罩，保持“社交距离”，在进入上海美国中心前，所有观众都将进行体温测试，并需要出示您的健康码。参加活动请务必提前报名。活动会准时开始，是否有余位视现场观众到场情况而定。如果您到达时房间已满，你可能将不被允许进入，即使您已经报名。目前，我们只能保证到达的前60名观众入场。
During this time, the audience must wear masks, maintain social distancing requirements, take temperature test and show a Shanghai health code before entering the Shanghai American Center. Please be sure to RSVP if you intend to come.  Programs begin on time and seats are subject to space availability. If the room is full when you arrive, you might not be granted entry, even if you RSVP'd. We can only seat the first 60 guests at this time.

我们至少会在活动开始前15分钟启动安检流程以及入场。请您携带有效并带有照片的身份证件原件进入上海美国中心，证件复印件或照片将不被接受。
Doors will open and security screening will commence 15 minutes before the program starts. You must bring a valid physical photo ID in order to enter the Shanghai American Center (ShAC). Copies or pictures of IDs will not be accepted. 

安检过程中，我们会对所有即将进入上海美国中心的物品进行扫描。请勿携带笔记本电脑进入上海美国中心，手机、iPad及其他平板设备、智能手表等允许携带。
All belongings carried into the ShAC will be scanned during security screening. While guests may not bring laptop computers to Shanghai American Center programs, portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, iPads and other tablets, and smartwatches are permitted.

Press inquiries should be directed to the U.S. Consulate Shanghai Press Office. Additionally, audio or video recording of the program will not be permitted.

活动参与者永久性授权上海美国中心和美国国务院在包括互联网在内的任何合法的政府和非政府出版物中发布、展示、编辑、更改、复制或分发其肖像，并无需支付酬劳或者申请批准。
All program participants grant the Shanghai American Center and the U.S. Department of State permission to publish, exhibit, edit, alter, copy, or distribute their likeness in a photograph in any and all publications for Government or non-government purposes, including website entries and any lawful purpose, without payment, approval, or any other consideration in perpetuity.
