Dear UMN alumni and friends, at this moment you are probably aware of the sexual assault lawsuit against Qiangdong Liu filed by a current UMN student(https://www.mndaily.com/article/2019/04/n-umn-student-sues-chinese-billionaire-richard-liu-alleging-rape). As UMN alumni and advocates for basic human rights, including freedom from sexual/gender violence, we believe it is our responsibility to stand behind the survivor in her fight against a powerful figure in a system that does not always prioritize her rights.
We therefore call upon you to join us in a small gesture to send her a loving and encouraging message, reminding her that there are people who believe, love, and support her. You may choose to share anything that you think might help her at this trying moment in life. You can also decide to share as much or as little about yourself as you see fit. We only ask that you think of her with kindness and respect when you write your messages for her. We will collect your responses and post them at https://alum4jy.weebly.com. However, we will not post responses that do not come from a loving heart.
