Ubud is a great base to explore Bali, if you are not looking for a beach holiday. Lots of temples to see and a couple of world class art museums - ARMA and Neka with a fantastic mixture of modern and traditional Balinese art. You can book a car and driver for the day for US$40 and that opens up lots of possibilities - Bali Zoo, Bird park, stone, mask and wood carving workshops, other temples and the lovely Lake Batur. We had a car for 4 days and that worked really well. Group your activities south, or north of Ubud, as traffic through the city is very busy and always slow. Ubud has lots of excellent restaurants, as well as craft stalls and lots of small shops. We stayed for 10 days at Dewanggha Ubud, which was an excellent base close to the town centreGuest review byArthurUnited Kingdom - Review score
Kuta is the best for a fun beach vacation in Bali.
Kuta is the best for a fun beach vacation in Bali. Whether its enjoying the sunset or having seafood dinner and drinks in one of the beach warungs, its always a great experience. In Kuta, the stretch along Jln Kartika is very lively with a variety of restaurants serving different cuisines including Pure vegetarian Indian restaurants.Guest review byShaileshkumarSingapore - Review score

Very busy spot particularly mid afternoons, when traffic can be challenging. Plenty of good restaurants and shops. A lot of narrow busy streets mean you need to pay attention when out shopping. Lots of Happy Hours everywhere.Guest review byMrDMAustralia - Review score
We stayed on the edge of Seminyak/ Legian.
We stayed on the edge of Seminyak/ Legian. It was a nice area although difficult to get to some of the tourist areas that were a bit further out due to the excessive traffic congestion. Plenty of nice restaurants and bars nearby. I enjoyed trying the various Warong’s around the area.Guest review byTristanAustralia - Review score

Uluwatu is great to surf if you’re advanced or a proper intermediate (comfortable solo turning green wave, 5ft +), but it’s not for less advanced surfers or people learning to surf. If you’re Western and looking for home away from home, then Uluwatu is for you. It’s very touristy and instagrammy, lots of Aussies, South Koreans and Europeans. You can’t go to a beach without a photoshoot happening somewhere. You’ll still find some amazing scenery, incredible surfing and good food, but don’t expect to see any locals really living their lives there, it’s all about the tourists, and is a party area reallyGuest review byFelicity - Review score
Nice area. Fairly clean.
Nice area. Fairly clean. Sidewalks are not too bad in the main areas. Lots of places to shop, eat and souvenirs. Lots of bars! Plenty of ATM’s. Beach is ok, but lots of seaweed, although attempts of clearing is ok. But, a lot of the big hotels commandeered space with sunloungers. Lots of water sports on offer.Guest review byRosemarieUnited Kingdom - Review score
Beautiful island.
Beautiful island. Takes a bit of time to see both east and west side. However the views made up for it. A bit crowded at the famous spots but that is expected. Allow a full day or do the east and west on separate days. We spotted manta rays and a turtle from land which was an added bonus and great way to end the trip.Guest review byMuhammad NaveedUnited Kingdom - Review score
Anything cooked traditionally vegetarian was really good!
Anything cooked traditionally vegetarian was really good! Seafood traditionally barbequed was really good! I found amazing authentic Italian restaurants in Legian! Breakfasts (Indonesian style) is better than bacon and eggs Juices at breakfast times were really good! Indonesian sweets at breakfast times were really good! Try the snake fruit for something different it was really good! Massages and skincare for the ladies are really good and cheaper! Getting around either by scooter, cab or by foot was easy and really good!Guest review byFayenzaAustralia - Review score
Lembongan is the perfect island destination.
Lembongan is the perfect island destination. Plenty of warungs offering affordable, yummy food right on the beach. We also loved la blanca, and ohana's for some western food. Surya coffee shop is a great pit stop every morning for a bit of caffeine. There are several surf spots on the island, with water taxis to take you out to the breaks. Snorkelling is awesome with lots of fish and coral, our favourite spots are the wall and crystal bay. Ceningan island is connected by bridge and it is very fun to grab a moped and ride around, taking in the beautiful views.Guest review bySharra - Review score
Very sanitised version of Bali.
Very sanitised version of Bali. The hotel complex is not a realistic reflection of Bali but it is nice to escape the crazy here. The water sports are ok, but our first location tried to charge $800AUD for three activities without hesitation. Ridiculous. Didnt explore the markets, you could stay in the hotel area the whole time with ease for a relaxing break.Guest review byJatiAustralia
