Second Annual 27K: Security Summit for the Americas meet

From Monday, September 26th to Thursday, September 29th, 2016,the second annual 27K: The Security Summit for the Americas tookplace at the South San Francisco Conference Center in South SanFrancisco, California. The conference brought together experts inthe ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS)standard along with people on the front lines of international ITsecurity to promote the standard in the Western Hemisphere. The summit was attended by more than 120 individuals and wassponsored by more than 20 IT security companies, including atsecinformation security. This year’s conference was focused on thechallenges of security in the area of Cloud Computing.

The 27K Summit started with a day of workshops on Monday thatcovered topics from introductions to the standard to harmonizingISO/IEC 27001 with other standards. Day two, Tuesday, began withopening remarks from Ryan Hill, atsec’s Community EngagementManager, followed by keynote presentations from Jim Reavis,Co-Founder and CEO of the Cloud Security Alliance, and CrispenMaung, Vice President of Compliance at Box.

The conference continued with presentations on twotracks, Getting Started and Implementation, for the remainder ofthe day. The Implementation track continued into Wednesday and anew track, Enterprise Issues, was also introduced. In all therewere over thirty speakers who presented.
