WIFI working but the icon reports that it isn't connected on the toolbar.

Using Terminal, what is the output of "ifconfig -a"

Post a screen shot of your System Prefs->Network->WiFI here.

Also post the content of these 2 files : ( or upload them somewhere and post a link here)

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist

Try deleting these 2 files ( after backing them up) and then reboot your machine and check if the issue still occurs.

I am in the exact same position with my air but I am unfortunate. Instead of it just stating "alert: no internet conn", it actually means it because it doesn't let me get to the Internet whatsoever :( even though I have the same exact icon that you have on the network..it reads "wifi - connected" with the green dot indicating it is fully connected with all bars. I find this very unusual idk what to do. I am posting this through my iPad, which does work with my Internet..

Thanks, this solved my problem as well! In my case it actually wasn't connecting to the internet, and it would only work after I ran a diagnostic every single time I started the computer.
